Rome Vocabulary

FORUM An open area in a city filled with public buildings, temples, and markets. The center of Rome’s government was located there.

REPUBLIC Type of government where citizens have the right to vote and elect officials.

LEGION Basic unit of the Roman army. Had about 5,000 soldiers in each legion.

System of rules by which a government is organized. CONSTITUTION System of rules by which a government is organized.
