Kimi Liang I remember that night, I just might regret that night for the rest of my days…

Angelica belts out her heartbreak, whilst toasting the couple’s happiness.

Theme 1: Intelligence “So so so—So this is what it feels like to match wits With someone at your level! What the hell is the catch? It’s The feeling of freedom, of seein’ the light.” This quote gives an insight of how Angelica feels about Hamilton The “special” one meets someone on her own level. Intelligent: seeing Hamilton more than a good looking guy Hamilton: poor, ambitious

Theme 2: Social Differentiation My father has no sons so I’m the one who has to social climb for one. So I’m the oldest and the wittiest and the gossip in New York City is insidious Historical Inaccuracies Social Value of Women Valued for their children and their husbands.

Theme 3: Sisters Hamilton went for her because of her social status and money. Eliza’s heart was also taken by Hamilton and she stated, “this boy is mine” back in “Helpless”. Eliza has more ambition. She would do anything to reach her dream Angelica literally knew everything about Eliza, which she stated, “I know my sister like I know my own mind”. “He’s after me cuz I’m a Schuyler sister, that elevates his status, I’d have to be naïve to set that aside, maybe that is why I introduce him to Eliza”

Angelica: Wants & Fears Wants keep her, more importantly, her family’s social status as her dad, Philip Schuyler, is one of the richest man in New York. Fears The fact that Hamilton goes after her because of her father will keep bothering her.

Hamilton: Wants and Fears Wants to prove himself and shines in the spot light, you can tell because Hamilton repeats the lyrics in the first song “but just you wait, just you wait.” His fear, however, is his family background. While Hamilton described his family as “unimportant”, Angelica noticed his nervous expression and knew he was poor and had no family background.

Eliza’s wants and fear????

Theme 4: Unfulfilled Dream “what might have been if I hadn’t sized him up so quickly.” She is never satisfied because of this and Angelica always wishes that the situation was different, so she could just go with Hamilton without anything to bother her. The song begins and ends with Angelica’s wedding toast, as she reveals she will never be satisfied with her unfulfilled ambitions and dreams. This theme also relates to Hamilton as he was never satisfied because of his ambition. He will always be craving for more, and hint hint, that’s not always a good thing.

Disparities in power alter the balance of relationship between individuals and between societies. “Women’s values” “The oldest and the wittiest” “Old money V.S new money”
