Billing Statement – Changes for 2019 The Pension and Health Insurance monthly billing statement will be mailed from the Conference office beginning January 2019. The bill will not be mailed until late January 2019 due to salary changes for 2019. The bills will no longer be mailed from CDS in Pittsburgh and your payments will no longer be remitted to the Pittsburgh office.

Billing Statement – Changes for 2019 All remittance of pension and health insurance after December 31, 2018,should be mailed to the Susquehanna Conference at 303 Mulberry Drive, Mechanicsburg PA 17050. This includes payments for 2018 (if mailed after December 31, 2018) and for 2019.

Billing Statement – Church Med Premium The billing statement may contain the following line items: Church medical premium – billed to those that have a full time pastor. The monthly amount billed will be $1,166.67 per pastor ($14,000 annually per pastor). This is the church’s responsibility to pay.

Billing Statement – Defined Pension Benefit Defined Pension Benefit – this figure is taken from the Pastoral Compensation Worksheet #6, section E5. The calculation is $5,750 per year times the pastor’s appointment percentage. This is the church’s responsibility for the defined pension benefit.

Examples of Defined Benefit Calculation: 100% full time pastor - the monthly amount billed will be $479.17 (5,750 x 100 divided by 12 months) 75% pastor – the monthly amount billed will be $359.38 (5,750 x .75 divided by 12 months)

Billing Statement – Defined Contribution Defined Pension Contribution – this figure is taken from the Pastoral Compensation Worksheet #6, section E4. The calculation is total wages (base salary plus SS offset) plus housing times 3%. This is the church’s responsibility for the defined pension contribution.

Example of Defined Contribution Calc: Total Wages = Base salary + SS offset $21,530 Live in a parsonage – take $21,530 times 25%= $5,382.50 Add total wages and housing to get pensionable wages of $26,912.50 Take pensionable wages $26,912.50 times 3% = $807.38 (annual) or $67.28 per month

Billing Statement - UMPIP UMPIP – United Methodist Personal Investment Plan – this figure is taken from the Contribution Election form completed by the pastor. Please retain a copy of this form for your payroll records. It can be a % of pensionable wages or a flat dollar amount and can be before tax or after tax, depending on the pastor’s selection. UMPIP is deducted from the pastor’s payroll.

UMPIP Contribution Election forms can be found on the Conference website SUSUMC.org under: “Finance and Administration” “Health and Pension Benefits” “UMPIP form” Please use the form on the website, as it is the most current form. Do not send the form to Wespath. Please leave Part 6 on the form blank. The form should be sent to Kelly Cox, Benefits Officer.

UMPIP Please email/mail any UMPIP change for 2019 to Kelly Cox (kcox@susumc.org) no later than December 31, 2018 for January 2019 billing.

Pastor’s Medical Premium The pastor should complete the Health Insurance Premium Salary Reduction form and give it to the treasurer. This shows what the pastor elected for 2019 to be deducted from payroll. I will also send the final election information to each pastor in an email as a double check.
