Thumbnail – please write down answers on your drill page What is a thumbnail sketch? Why do artists use them? What purpose do they serve? How large is a thumbnail sketch. Demonstration.

Micro Lab #7 Create six thumbnail sketches- each including different types of pattern. How many types of pattern do you see? You have 30 minutes.

Contour Line Contour line drawings are drawings that only use line. No value. They are simple drawings like vase face, monster face, and the seated man. In order to be successful at contour line drawing, an artist must see not the object as a whole, but rather the lines and shapes that make up the object.

Micro Lab #8 Take out a personal object or find one in this classroom. Draw this object in thumbnail form. Three different points of view, three different sizes, and three different placements.
