Adding & Subtracting Radical Expressions

Objective - To simplify radical expressions involving addition & subtraction.

Adding & Subtracting Radicals Remember yesterday we learned how to simplify radicals: 1) No perfect square factor in a radical. 2) No fractions or decimals in a radical. 3) No radicals in a denominator. SIMPLIFY FIRST!

Adding & Subtracting Radicals Adding and subtracting radicals is the same as combining like terms. Like radicals have the same root and radicand. To combine like radicals, just add/subtract the “coefficients”!
