Errors In Hypothesis tests Making Errors

What are they? Type 1 Errors: The null hypothesis is true, but we mistakenly reject it. Type II Errors: The null hypothesis is false, but we fail to reject it.

In Medical disease testing The null hypothesis is usually the assumption that a person is healthy The alternative is that he or she has the disease we’re testing. Type I error is a false positive: A healthy person is diagnosed with the disease. Type II error, in which an infected person is diagnosed as disease free, is a false negative.

In Jury Trial: Type I error: Jury convicts an innocent person. Type II error: The jury fails to convict a guilty person.
