National School Breakfast Program- Fast Fact March 4-8, 2019 The National School Breakfast Program (SPB) serves 14.6 million children every school day! National School Breakfast Week

School Breakfast: Fast Facts Students who participate in school breakfast show improved attendance, behavior, and standardized achievement test scores as well as decreased tardiness. Source: Food Research & Action Council March 4-8, 2019 Students who eat breakfast have better attention and memory. Source: The National Dairy Council National School Breakfast Week Students who eat school breakfast attend on average 1.5 more days of school per year and score 17.5% higher on standardized math tests. Source: Share Our Strength Low-income children who receive school breakfast do better on a variety of indicators than low-income peers who go without breakfast. Source: The Sodexo Foundation

School Meals: Safe School kitchens are subject to regular health inspections by the local health department. According to the CDC, school kitchens maintain exceptional food safety records. Schools account for only 1% of foodborne-disease outbreaks, compared to 10% from home and 61% from restaurants. March 4-8, 2019 National School Breakfast Week
