Presentation transcript:

Role of monocytes in NK cell activity. Role of monocytes in NK cell activity. Full PBMCs and CD14-depleted PBMCs (2 × 106 cells per infection) were infected with Zika virus (ZIKV) at an MOI of 10 and harvested at 36 hpi. (A) Gating strategy of CD94+ CD56+ Lineage− NK cells and their expression of CD69, CD107a, and IFN-γ. Plots from one representative donor are shown. The red circle indicates the presence or absence of CD14+ monocytes. (B) Compiled percentages of CD107a- and IFN-γ-positive NK cells (depicted in panel A) as normalized to the respective mock sample. (C) Viral load in the infected cells. Data shown were derived from seven donors. Lineage markers CD3, CD19, CD20, and CD14 have been included to rule out the presence of non-NK cells. All data are presented as means ± standard deviations. *, P < 0.05; **, P < 0.01, by Mann-Whitney U test, two-tailed. Viral load data were not statistically significant between the two conditions by Mann-Whitney U test, two-tailed. Fok-Moon Lum et al. mSphere 2018; doi:10.1128/mSphereDirect.00120-18
