Geology Spring 2016 – 8th Grade

Geology: The study of rocks, processes, and history of Earth.

BrainPop Types of Rocks: Sedimentary Rock: Type of rocks formed by sediment that is deposited over time, usually as layers at the bottom of lakes and oceans. Metamorphic Rock: Rock created from the transformation of other types of rock through heat and pressure. Igneous Rock: Type of rock formed under or above ground when magma cools.

Ice Core A sample from a sheet of ice or glacier, that contains gasses, used to study how the Earth’s climate has changed over time.

Fossil Preserved remains or traces of animals, plants and other organisms that lived in the past

Geologic Time Scale BrainPOP A record of the major events and life forms present in Earth’s history.
