Provider Finding a provider: Internet Word of mouth KLS Foundation Website https://klsfoundation.org/ YouTube Word of mouth Connect and talk to other patients KLS Facebook page/group

Provider Follow up and stay connected: Call with any new questions Log “ALL” episodes and any sign/symptom changes Stay current on your diagnosis Keep checking in with your provider

provider Make an appointment with a KLS provider even if he/she is not your PCP: Make sure they take enough time with you Make sure they are caring and understanding Make sure they “listen” Bring all your labs and diagnostic information with you Ask questions !!

provider Create a “Never give up attitude” It will allow your provider to take your condition personal Let your provider know what assistance you need with your school, family, and/or job Create an open line of communication with giving consent to others close to you allowing contact when your in an episode

Parent / caregiver Be caring and understanding: Provide support with all “Activities of daily living”! Never leave alone! Make a safe environment that is not judgmental

PARENT / CAREGIVER Help with daily Hygiene: Shower Oral hygiene Clean bedding Clean clothing

Parent / caregiver Patient Safety: Never leave alone during episode “Life 360” tracker app Medical ID bracelet/necklace Restrict driving privileges Alarm sensors on all doors/windows

Parent / caregiver Do not let these episodes stop your kids life: Just pause and apply help when needed in any way Provide “help” with getting accommodations with school/job “Encouragement” to move forward and get through difficult times Make sure your child is ok with telling his/her story

Parent / caregiver Make sure family and close friends are aware: Give close friends and relatives medical literature to help them understand Meet with school/job as parent advocate IEP 504 Plan Hospital Homebound Create new accommodations if needed Meet with teachers/coaches

Parent / caregiver Positive thinking: Open the door for communication as often as possible Offer medical and mental help if needed or wanted Seek help immediately from your provider and/or parent if treatment needed for depression and anxiety

Parent / provider NEVER GIVE UP: WE WILL NOT LET LIFE PASS YOU BY !! WE ARE ALL HERE FOR YOU !! WE WILL NEVER STOP STRIVING FOR A CAUSE AND A CURE !!
