Trends that should be addressed The management equation for Healthcare Increased Access to Care, Decreased Reimbursement and Higher Quality of Care Acute Care Facilities are experiencing higher acuity The shift from patient care to managing populations of care The shift from inpatient acute care to outpatient care

Trends Shift to Disease Management Programs The ACA has mandated Nurse Run Clinics with ARNP The ACA has mandated at Federally Qualified Primary Health Centers have a specific ratio of ARNP to Patients Community Based Prevention

Trends Care Models will be based on Wal Mart Approach to Retail Utilization of Acute Care Down 50% 50% Less Inpatient Beds Development of Community based Care networks with Hospitals Care and payment for Care based on disease management and also disease financing

Trends Financing of Care that is Community based with be based on prevention and keeping patients out of hospitals Because of the cost of care nurse practitioners will be plentiful and opportunities for nurse run clinics Need for creativity in technology and also service delivery

Opportunities for Nurse Business Services Nurses who can provide consultation and direction to hospitals on cost and quality Hospitals will be decreasing their education and staff development programs because of cost and will be looking for contractors to provide education(More cost effective because of not having salaried educators)

Opportunities for Nurse Business Because of the need for Electronic Medical Records in Community Health and Practitioner Office opportunities for consultation Case Management Nurse Consultants needed to help hospitals and community health agencies provide case management across the continuum

Opportunities for Nurse Business Nurse developing programs in the integration of mental health and physical health Nurses working for hospitals and insurers in developing networks of care for systems wanting to develop the accountable care organizations Nurse run programs in Alternative Health

Opportunities for Nurse Business Nurse run Businesses that provide consultation and direction for quality improvement in hospitals and healthcare Nurses contracting with Insurers and employers to provide health coaching for specific employees with chronic conditions
