TOXIC LESSONS: HOW TV VIOLENCE MISLEADS YOUNG PEOPLE

Some studies showed the connection between media violence and real violence. For example Dr. Eron followed a group of youth. This people, at the age of eight, watched a lot of television. They were more likely to become aggressive at the age of thirty and therefore commit some seriuos crimes. Children and youth are more affected by violentmovies than adults. In addiction media sends really damaging and false messages

Violence on TV is portrayed in a lot of ways: It’s often rewarded and seldom has negative consequence; It’s everywhere; It’s justifield a national study found that aggression isn’t punished; It’s funny; It’s pleasurable; They interpret what they see as realistic; Children identify them-selves with one character; especially with heros; therefore they may find violence so enjoyable.

INTERACTION: What is your reaction when you see violent scenes? If you were a parent, would you limit the tv programmes to your children? In your opinion, is children’s behaviour influenced by violent movies? would you remove violent on tv? Do you think that other violent behaviours in a family can influence the children?
