Once a person becomes a Christian… They must learn to start serving God and seek ways to glorify Him (Lk. 17:5-10). We will examine 5 noble duties that Christians can do based on 1 Cor. 16:13-14.

“5 Noble Duties of Christians” ~ 1 Cor. 16:13-14

1 Corinthians 16:13-14 Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. 14 Let all that you do be done with love. (NKJV)

1 Corinthians 16:13-14 Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. 14 Let all that you do be done with love. (NKJV)

Watch Elders are to watch out for souls (Heb. 13:17). Watch how you conduct your lives, to be ready (Mk. 13:35-37; 1Thess. 5:4-10).  Watch for opportunities to teach (Jn. 4:35, 38). Watch for false teachers (1Jn. 4:1; Rom. 16:17-18). Watch your temper & speech (Jas. 1:19-20). Be self-controlled & watchful to resist the devil (1Pet. 5:8-9).

1 Corinthians 16:13-14 Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. 14 Let all that you do be done with love. (NKJV)

Stand fast in the faith We are to put on the whole armor of God for a reason (Eph. 6:11-12). We stand fast in the faith only when putting on that whole armor of God (Eph. 6:13-18). Never forget the source of our strength (Phil. 4:11-13).

1 Corinthians 16:13-14 Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. 14 Let all that you do be done with love. (NKJV)

Be brave The idea behind this word from the Greek is to grow up and be like men (Cf. ASV, ESV). How to do this very thing is revealed in the OT (1 Ki. 2:1-4). Trust in, and keep, God’s commandments. Every Christian, whether male or female, should strive to grow into maturity (Eph. 4:14- 15; Cf. 1 Cor. 13:11, 14:20).

1 Corinthians 16:13-14 Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. 14 Let all that you do be done with love. (NKJV)

Be strong God has always wanted his people to be strong (Josh. 1:6-9). Today, every Christian needs to be strong in the Lord. If you want to be strong in the Lord, you must be willing to leave the milk behind and go on to the solid food (Heb. 5:13-14).

1 Corinthians 16:13-14 Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. 14 Let all that you do be done with love. (NKJV)

Do all things with love Without love in our heart for God & His people -- we are nothing (1 Cor. 13:1-3). How may Christians display that they have the love of God (Jn. 14:15; 1 Jn. 5:3)? Actions speak louder than words (1 Jn. 3:18). We must be careful that we don’t become lovers of ourselves or of sinful pleasure (2 Tim. 3:1-5). One of the hardest of tasks to learn; love your enemy (Mt. 5:44-46).

Once a person becomes a Christian… They must learn to start serving God and seek ways to glorify Him (Lk. 17:5-10). We have examined 5 noble duties that Christians can do based on 1 Cor. 16:13-14.

Colossians 2:11-12  11 In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. (NKJV)
