What is a Computer System? A computer system, can be broken up into four sections: Input Processing Output Storage Input is the raw data that is put into the system. Make point that it is not just a desktop computer, it is also laptops tablets and smart phones Processing is the jobs that the computer does on the data to turn it into… …Output, which is the information that comes out of the computer. The system also need to be able to Store data and information.

Activity 1 memory card Processor Keyboard Speaker Go through activity sheet answers memory card Processor Keyboard Speaker

Desktop or Portable computer system? Desktop Computer System Usually found in offices Not suitable for moving place to place. Can be shared amongst employees Portable Computer System Laptops, tablets, Netbooks and Smartphones Mobile use Can work away from the usual work place Often used instead of desktop computers

We have looked at what input, output, processing and storage mean, but now we need to look at the equipment that makes them happen. We call these pieces of equipment devices. There are Input devices, Processing devices and Output devices.

Complete the Activity Sheet. Input Devices Input devices all have the same purpose to enable the user to enter or input data so that instructions or commands can be given to the computer. Complete the Activity Sheet. Use the internet for research

Plenary Summaries the lesson and what you learnt.
