Weather The What’s of weather

Weather is what? Change in Pressure

Winds

Wind Direction What is to usually follow North Winds Cold and dry weather South Winds Warm and damp East Winds Storms and wind West Winds Normal

Barometers Are used to check the pressure changes in the area.

Pressure Systems

High Pressure system High-pressure systems are usually associated with fair weather. This is because as the air sinks, it warms and is able to hold more water vapor. Thus, in these systems, clouds tend to evaporate and the air stabilizes. Storms have a hard time forming in stable air = Clear Sky's and low humidity

Low Pressure Systems Usually means cloudy or stormy weather is at hand A system forms based on the interaction between the atmosphere and large bodies of water. When low pressure builds over warm water, it may begin to organize and can form a tropical wave, which can turn into a hurricane

Signs bad weather is coming Grandma starts complaining about her hip aching. Birds are lining up on power lines Rainbows coming from the west Sudden wind changes Headaches because of the low pressure system Slow dropping pressure means long storm
