Activity 1 Record and edit your voice using Audacity 1. Download Audacity (a free and open source audio editing software from http://audacity.sourceforge.net/. Install and configure the software after downloading.

2. Connect a microphone to your computer. Activity 1 Record and edit your voice using Audacity 2. Connect a microphone to your computer.

Activity 1 Record and edit your voice using Audacity 3. Select Audacity and select ‘Microphone’ as the audio input source. Adjust the recording volume if necessary.

Activity 1 Record and edit your voice using Audacity 4. Double click the volume control button on the Windows Taskbar. Select ‘Microphone’ in the ‘Record Control’ window and adjust the volume if necessary.

Activity 1 Record and edit your voice using Audacity 5. Click the ‘Record’ button to start recording. Speak into the microphone and your voice will be recorded in digital format. The red bars on the top right hand corner represent the volume.

6. Play the recording by clicking the ‘Play’ button . Activity 1 Record and edit your voice using Audacity 6. Play the recording by clicking the ‘Play’ button . 7. Note the audio attributes (e.g. sampling rate, number of channels) of the recording are listed on the left of the audio tracks.

Activity 1 Record and edit your voice using Audacity 8. If you find the recording volume too small, you do not need to do the whole recording again. Select ‘Edit’ → ‘Select’ → ‘All’ to select the whole track. Select ‘Effect’ → ‘Amplify’ and adjust the amplification factor (in dB).
