What is theme and how do we determine the theme of a text?

These are not themes Love Power The eternal struggle against corruption of power Theme isn’t one word! Theme isn’t an idea! THESE ARE TOPICS: what the story is about, or has to do with.

How can we determine the theme of “Finding Nemo”?

1- Topics Create a list of topics involved in the story.

2- statement Write a sentence about the topic. It must related to the topic in general, and not just to your story. Don’t make it too general. Love is good. Racism is bad. Trust is important. “The author believes that…”

Statement part 2 Write statement below:

3- edit and revise Cross out “The author believes that…” in order to create a statement sentence. Revise your statement as needed. (capitalize, word tense)
