Why not using Laboratory Domain? “The HL7 Laboratory domain includes the provision and use of analytic services in areas such as chemistry, hematology, serology, histology, cytology, anatomic pathology, microbiology, and virology. It does not include blood bank or blood transfusion services.”

Blood Bank SIG Scope To support operational, statistical and historical information of individual and interrelated blood banks Tracking of donor, recipient information for institutional and public health purposes (HIV,HCV etc.) Facilitate prospective, retrospective and concurrent review process Interchange of regional, national and possibly international information relative to procedures, regulation and standards of practice
