Associate in Business Degree Direct Transfer in Business Administration

What is the AB-DTA? The Associate in Business Degree (Direct Transfer Agreement) is generally pursued by students who plan to transfer to a 4 year University as a business major after completing their first 2 years at GRCC

What Does the AB-DTA Do? Meets Distribution Requirements at 4 year institutions in Washington State Documents completion of a 2 year business program Provides superior transfer capability over a Generic Associate in Arts (AA) degree

What does the AB-DTA Require? Student must complete a minimum of 90 credits in approved courses numbered 100 or above from specific distribution areas (see hyperlink to planning guide) No more than 25% of credit requirements may be pass-fail. Students must maintain cumulative G.P.A. of 2.0 Must earn at least 24 credits in residence at GRCC.

Specific Distribution Areas of Study Basic Skills- 15 credits Humanities/Fine Arts/English-15 credits from 3 separate areas Social Science- 20 credits Natural Science- 15 credits Accounting- 15 credits Fitness/Wellness- 2-3 credits Electives- 7-8 credits

Courses within Distribution Basic Skills: English 110 (College English)- 5 credits English 111, 112 Or 113 - 5 credits Quantitative Skills- Math 124 or 157-5 credits

Courses Within Distribution Humanities/Fine Arts/English – Minimum of 15 credits can be taken from wide array of courses (refer to planning guide) Must be from 3 separate department areas Maximum of 5 credits in 100 level Foreign Language courses Maximum of 5 credits of performance/skills courses (see bold type in planning guide)

Courses Within Distribution Social Science- minimum of 20 Credits Must Take: Econ 200 and 201- 10 credits AND BA 200 or BA 205- 5 credits Remaining 5 credit minimum from an array of Social Science Courses by Department (See planning guide)

Courses Within Distribution Natural Science- Minimum of 15 credits Must Take: Math 256 – 5 credits Minimum of 10 credits from an array of Science courses by department, 5 credits of which must be a lab science. (refer to bold type courses in planning guide)

Courses Within Distribution Accounting- Minimum of 15 credits Must take 3-quarter series: Financial Accounting – BA 210 & BA 220 Managerial Accounting – BA 230 Students are urged to consult with the transfer University of their choice

Courses Within Distribution Fitness-Wellness: 2 or 3 credits P.E. 101, 102, 103, 111, 131, 149 ,160, or 165 No more than 3 credits of total physical education credits, including electives, may apply to the AB-DTA.

Courses Within Distribution Electives: 7-8 Credits Must be classes numbered 100 or above Recommendations: Bus E 100 (5) Fundamental of Microcomputers Marketing Fundamentals (5) (Bus 121) Business Leadership (5) (Bus 103) Note: The requirements for this class have changed for the 2006-2008 catalog Introduction to International Business (Bus 181) Prerequisite, BA 101 or Instructor’s permission Computer software courses (e.g. Excel) Several options under Bus Ed offerings, some may require prerequisite of Bus Ed 100.
