General Objective Give a brief history about Mozambique Women Credit Cooperatives : Nampula, Nacala & Pemba Specific Objectives Background Information: Mission and Vision of the Cooperatives; Illustration of photos showing some income generating activities carried out by the members. Members who have overcome the poverty Challenges Conclusion

Women Credit Cooperatives Nampula-was opened in Nacala - was opened on 23rd of February Pemba- Not open yet.

Mission To save money in a safe place and to provide credit to members in order to run their small businesses and to provide other services for the improvement of their current socio- economic situation.

Vision To build up a financial institution that provides saving services and competitive and sustainable credit for women with low income.

Existing Members Nampula-There are members in total. Nacala-There are 497 members in total. Pemba- Not registered yet. Next, We would like to show you some members who have benefitted from receiving credit.

Members who have overcome poverty In Nampula 3,000 members have gotten out of poverty In Nacala, 250 members have gotten out of poverty

Our challenges Lack of independence of women; Women in our cooperatives still have a high rate of illiteracy; Most of our members have no management skill for household economy; Low training in the field of business management; The empowerment of women and local community development is still our main focal point

CONCLUSION Women credit cooperatives is one micro finance, is not a silver bullet that will eradicate poverty but it helps because it puts resources into the hands of women and alows them to make choices that have immediate impact on lives of their families-better helth and education for their childrem.
