Caring for Carers’ ….. A Joint Strategy for Carers of All Ages in Cheshire East 2015 – 2018

Rationale for priority areas Carers reference group November 2013 event PDG task and finish group 2014 Care Act January engagement events

What will be different: the process for identifying carers and undertaking assessment the way we commission support services for carers the range information available to carers in a variety of formats the way we engage with carers the recognition and respect we give to people in a caring role the opportunities for carers to balance their role with personal goals and opportunities

Risks and mitigations Fail to deliver strategy due to competing priorities across organisations: Agree a memorandum of Understanding which clearly identifies lines of accountability and commitment across partners Meeting demand for cares assessment and matching need: Application of eligibility criteria Section 256 resource within the Better Care Fund Capacity to deliver the carers strategy: Joint appointment of a band 6/7 project coordinator Ensuring engagement and representation moving forward: Developing hub and spoke network arrangement with carer groups

Recommendations and next steps sign off the strategy and implementation plan for 2015-18 approve the governance arrangements including the memorandum of understanding commence implementation!
