Adaptation in Animals You should be able to describe how these animals are adapted to their habitats

Learning Outcomes All students can define the term adaptation. Most can describe how named animals are adapted to survive in cold climates and in dry climates. Some will be able to suggest how organisms are adapted to the conditions in which they live when provided with appropriate information

What is adaptation? All organisms are adapted to life in general, such as having legs for walking, wings for flying or leaves for photosynthesizing. These are general adaptations. Teacher notes See the ‘Competition’ presentation for more information on niches and other ecological terms. Organisms also have specific adaptations. These are special features or behaviours that have evolved to make an organism particularly suited to its environmental niche.
