Geography What is geography? What does that even mean? The dictionary defines geography: as a science that deals with the description, distribution, and interaction of the diverse physical, biological, and cultural features of the earth's surface. What does that even mean? Geography is the study of the Earth and everything on it.

Movement The interaction of people, places, ideas, and things Questions: How do people interact with each other? How do goods move from one place to another?

Region Divides areas into parts that share the same features, such as language, people, and land. Examples: cities or areas like the South or Midwest Questions: How are regions different? How has the region changed over time?

Human-Environment Interaction How humans adapt to and change the environment. Humans shape the landscape through their interaction with the land; this has both positive and negative effects on the environment. Questions: How has the environment changed? Are the changes good or bad?

Location Tells where it is Absolute location: the exact location of the Earth using latitude and longitude Relative location: the location relative to other places Questions: Where is this place located? How has its location affected it?

Place Characteristics that make a place unique, such as weather, plants, animals, history, and people. Question: What are the unique features of this place? Why are they important?
