Square Roots

Square Roots The opposite of squaring a number is finding a square root. A square root of a number is one of its two equal factors. Since 4 x 4 = 16, a square root of 16 is 4.

Square Roots Numbers such as 1, 4, 9, 16, and 25 are called perfect squares because they are squares of whole numbers.

Closure Explain how you can find the length of a side of a square if you know the area of the square is 64 ft2.
