As well as the HRTPO’s responsibilities under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 The HRTPO is a sub-recipient of federal financial assistance required to comply with Title VI Which states that no person on the grounds of race, color, national origin, handicap, sex, age or income status be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under any program or activity. HRTPO assures that there will be nondiscrimination in all activities whether federally funded or not And also it outlines our strategy to implement with all populations, which includes: Developing partnerships with local community leaders, groups, and organizations Providing the public with timely and easily understood information Facilitating a transparent, flexible public involvement process Source: VDOT
