Give Me That Old Time Religion Chapter 15:1-11 Give Me That Old Time Religion

Roots of This Gospel 15:1 Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand.

Roots of This Gospel The farmer sows the word. Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them.  Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy.  But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.  Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word;  but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful.  Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop

Roots of This Gospel 15:1 Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand.

Importance of This Gospel Roots of This Gospel Importance of This Gospel 15:2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

Importance of This Gospel Roots of This Gospel Importance of This Gospel James 5:19-20 My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth… 2 Pet 2:20 If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. 15:2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

Importance of This Gospel Roots of This Gospel Importance of This Gospel Content of This Gospel 15:3-4  For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures

Importance of This Gospel Roots of This Gospel Importance of This Gospel Content of This Gospel Luke 22:44-46 “Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me…” Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures… “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day” 15:3-4  For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures

Importance of This Gospel Roots of This Gospel Importance of This Gospel Content of This Gospel Proof of This Gospel 15:5-8   and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve.  After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.  Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles,  and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

Importance of This Gospel Roots of This Gospel Importance of This Gospel Content of This Gospel Proof of This Gospel Results of This Gospel 15:9-10   For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.  But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.
