Presentation transcript:

Merlot Points of Difference Sourced from vineyards mainly from the Oak Knoll region, along with a small portion from Rutherford—regions ideal for cultivating Merlot grapes. The moderate to cool climate in Napa Valley supports an extended growing season, resulting in elegant, intricate, complex and balanced wine. The 2016 vintage consisted of new clone 347, and classic clones 6 and 3. Once harvested, the grapes undergo a 10–16 day maceration period using délestage to enhance color and flavors from the skins while avoiding the bitter and astringent flavors. Aged 19 months in 100% French oak. Aromas of blackberry, black cherry, ripe plum and hints of rose petal, spice and cedar. Flavors of ripe blackberry and cherries, with nutty, vanilla, spice and cedar notes on finish coat the palate and are complemented by smoky-oak, tobacco and cedar notes. Sourced out of the cooler parts of the Alexander Valley, Sonoma which stretches 22 miles following the Russian River along heavily graveled beaches and foothills. The grapes benefit from warm daytime temperatures, marine-cooled evenings and well-draining volcanic soils. Hand-picked, 10–14 day maceration and aged for 18 months in French, American and Hungarian oak. Bright and varietally expressive. Bright, enticing dark berry, blueberry and plum notes with dried tea characteristics and hints of graphite on the nose. A lavish layer of velvety tannins and firm, persistent acidity coats the mouth. The cherry, black raspberry and vanilla oak flavors are concentrated and focused boasting a firm, yet plush, mocha finish.
