Overview of the American Revolution

British Strategy to Win (early in the war) Start in Canada. Come down the Hudson River. Attack New York. Go up the Hudson River. Meet at Saratoga in the Middle. Cut the colonies in half!

British Strategy (late in the war) Invade the South! There are lots of Tories (Loyalists) down there to help us out! Build up an army of Loyalists and re-invade the North!

American Strategy to Win (early in the war) Washington’s Plan: Kick the British out of the big cities! Boston: Successful New York: whoops! Philadelphia: whoops! Beat the British in the field: whoops!
