What is Theme? A message or a lesson the author wants a reader to learn from the story. COMMON THEME TOPICS Ex: Friendship Love Courage Loyalty Betrayal Honesty Family Loneliness Selflessness Hope Determination Growing up

Use a TOPIC to compose a THEME STATEMENT: a general statement that can be used for other stories. .no "plot" or "characters" .it is universal Example: Friendship can lead to happiness. This theme works for both "Finding Nemo" and "Toy Story".
