Paul’s Life Paul Cézanne was a French artist and Post-Impressionist painter whose work laid the foundations of the transition from the 19th-century conception of artistic endeavor to a new and radically different world of art in the 20th century.

Birth and Death Paul Cézanne was born on January 19, 1839 He died on October 22, 1906

Nationality Paul Cézanne was born in Aix-en-Provence, France, and spent his some of his life in Paris, though he eventually died in Aix-en-Provence

Education In 1857 he began attending the Free Municipal School of Drawing in Aix, where he studied drawing under Joseph Gibert, a Spanish monk. From 1858 to 1861, complying with his father's wishes, Cézanne attended the law school of the University of Aix, while also receiving drawing lessons.

Where Cézanne lived Cézanne lived in Aix-en-Provence, and for a time in Paris, but eventually returned to Aix-en-Provence

Where his career began, and why Paul sought out his career in art in 1861 in Paris, he had long before had a passion for being an artist. It could be argued his career began when he went to the Free Municipal School of Drawing in Aix.

Influences on his Work Paul Cézanne had many influences on his work, including: a working relationship with Camille Pissaro a long lasting friendship with Émile Zola and Baptistin Baille a social ineptitude which depressed and frustrated him Financial and emotional support from his father

Cézanne’s career Cézanne was only ever a painter, having received financial support from his father, and never had to worry about finances after his father’s death in 1886 when he inherited 400,000 francs
