Irene Dab

Irene Dab was born in Warsaw in 1935 Irene Dab was born in Warsaw in 1935. Before the German invasion to Poland , Irene lived with her parents in the center of the city . Irene´s father was a wholesaler of pharmaceutics products so he used to be absent in his home. Irene´s mother was homemaker so she stayed in the house all day long .

Germans attack In October 1940, when Irene was almost four years old , the German soldiers invaded Poland and she and her parents were taken to the ghetto in Warsaw .

In her book she remembers when they arrived at the ghetto “it was very cold and I remember that I was forced to take off my clothes I had set for myself and they gave me a kind of stripped pajamas which were too big”. Inside the ghetto, Irene's father was forced to work in the factories outside the ghetto and her mother had to clean the floor of the bathrooms.

One year later, her father hid her in a bag and he took her to the houses of many families who were against the Nazis .Since 1941, she was outside of the ghetto but she couldn't escape for a long time because it was very difficult to find a person who wanted to protect a Jewish girl. When her father didn't have any more possibilities she had to go back to the ghetto.

On January 6 1943, three months before the lifting of the ghetto , her father found a family who could protect her outside the ghetto and he took her white JADZA and BORZYAR , a young couple , and from this moment on Irene changed her name to TEREZA BREZERZINSIKA .

In her book, Irene said that sometimes she forgot the face of her mother and for that reason she was sad for a long time and didn't eat her food. But, one day her father told her that her mother was going to go through in front of the street where Irene used to live, but she couldn't greet her and talk to her …she could only see her .

. Irene was very scared because she did not know if she was going to recognize her when she saw her . When Irene saw her mother after 6 months, she said in the book that her mother looked at her face with a serious face but Irene knew that her mother was making this because she wanted to protect her from the German soldiers.

Two years later , when the war was finishing , her father took her and they went to a house of members of resistance. It was there where Irene met her mother and her aunt . Soon after they were freed in 1945 , they started a new life .

After the war an uncle who lived in Argentina found them through the Red Cross and so the idea of leaving Poland began. However , two years after the war was over, her father achieved to buy the passports, and they went to Paris. There they met a friend of her father who helped them to leave Poland. His friend invited them to live at his house.

In Paris, his father was connected with the Joint and they paid the hotel while they waited for the document to go to Argentina. In 1948 , when she arrived in Argentina her uncle and his wife were waiting for them. Today Irene lives in Argentina and she has 2 kids Daniel and Paula. grgrangrandchildren’s.
