#1. 6 + (-3) #2. -5 – 6 #3. -4 + 7 #4. -10 + -7 Bell Ringer

Don’t forget…. I need all missing work by FRIDAY, OCT 10! Projects are due MONDAY, OCT 13! Both parts should be turned in: Poster Item cost sheet 9 Weeks Test is FRIDAY, OCT 10!! If you are going to be absent, I NEED TO KNOW!

Important Information We are going to be talking about the test today. You will all get a study guide. You may write on this study guide if you wish. HOWEVER, there isn’t that much room and tomorrow we are going over the study guide so you may want to do this practice round on a separate sheet of paper and then work them correctly with us tomorrow in class. You have permission to write down anything that I am about to tell you about the final.

Let’s Talk About the 9 Weeks Test You will be allowed to use a calculator. You will find out how many problems are on the test when you get it. It covers all the material from our 3 tests of this 9 Weeks: Sections 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5 Sections 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5, 4.6 Sections 5.2 and 5.5 You will write your answers on an answer sheet. Work will be done on a separate page. There is no partial credit. Half the test is multiple choice, Half the test is not multiple choice.

Types of Problems You Will See Make sure you know indicators in word problems: More than Less than Product Quotient Is

Types of Problems You Will See Find the sum/difference: Add a positive -6 + 2 Add a negative -6 + (-2) Subtract a positive -6 – 2 Subtract a negative -6 – (-2) Multiply positive and negative numbers: 2(-2)(4)

Types of Problems You Will See Simplify using the Distributive Property For example: 4(m + 2) REMEMBER: Simplify does NOT mean solve!!!! If there is no equal sign, then you can not solve it!!!

Types of Problems You Will See Absolute Value: |7|- |-2| Replace the ___ to make a true sentence: 7 _____ -15 Average (Mean): 3, 1, 8

Types of Problems You Will See And of course all the problems we have been doing where you have to solve for x: x – 3 = 6 3x = 9 3x + 5 = 20 ½ x = 10 You will NOT be required to check answers on the 9 weeks test.

What you should be doing…. Finish any tests/quizzes/class work that you owe me. Work on your study guide. What you don’t finish today will be assigned for homework. Please come ask me if you have any questions! Turn in Friday’s class work if you have not already done so. Turn in the encouragement worksheet to me if you have not already done so. Once ALL this is finished, you may study for a different class, read a book, or play cool math games.
