6 ADDITION PROPERTIES Commutative You can add numbers in any order.
5 + 1 = 1 + 5 Associative When you are only adding, you can group any of the numbers together. (9 + 3) + 2 = 9 + (2 + 3) Identity Property of Zero The sum of any number and zero is equal to the number. 9 + 0 = 9

7 MULTIPLICATION PROPERTIES
Commutative You can multiply numbers in any order. 5 x 8 = 8 x 5 Associative When you are only multiplying, you can group any of the numbers together. (4 x 9) x 7 = 4 x (9 x 7) Identity Property of One The product of any number and one is equal to the number. 6 x 1 = 6 Property of Zero The product of any number and zero is zero. 5 x 0 = 0 Distributive When you multiply a number times a sum, you can find the sum first and then multiply, or multiply each number in the sum and then add. 6 x (4 + 5) = 6 x x 5
