Presentation transcript:

The Zone System The Zone System is a tool for both students and teachers. It helps the student express their feeling and allows the teacher to set expectations and individualize student work for the school day.

The Zones: Pink= mean, yelling, angry, terrified. Green= calm, happy, focused, content. Orange= frustrated, excited, silly, grouchy. Blue= sad, sick, tired, bored. Each “zone” represents different feelings we experience. When students arrive in the morning they pick a card that represents the “zone” they are in. The teacher picks a card and models their zone. The class then has a group discussion about each student’s zone. Our goal is focusing on the positive zones and what can be done to improve the negative zones.

What has worked for my classroom: What has not worked for my students: The Zones What has worked for my classroom: What has not worked for my students: Setting a morning routine. Picking a zone for myself. Some have a difficult time expressing feelings verbally. Writing down how they feel.
