What National Symbol means? National symbols intend to unite people by creating visual, verbal, or iconic representations of the national people, values, goals, or history. Why are National Symbols important? The flag The Dominican flag is the soul of our country who crosses the sky of freedom. The flag was designed by Juan Pablo Duarte, which clearly defined her in the pledge of Trinity. The father of the country, initially drew a white cross on the Haitian flag.
