Zero Factor Property If ab = 0 then a = 0 or b = 0

To use this Factor the left side of ax2 + bx + c = 0 Then set each linear factor equal to 0 and solve

Factoring Ex. 1 A) 2x2 + 9x + 7 = 3 B) 6x2 – 3x = 0

Extracting Square Roots For u2 = d when d > 0 u is an alg. expression

So for u2 = d U = ± √d

EX 2 A) 4x2 = 12 B) (x-3)2 = 7
