8.3 Medians and Altitudes of Triangles Essential Question: How can you find the balance point or center of gravity of a triangle?

Median- a segment whose endpoints are a vertex of a triangle and the midpoint of the opposite side

Centroid(center of gravity)- the point of concurrency of the three medians of a triangle

First: Find and plot midpoints using midpoint formula.

Altitude- a perpendicular segment from a vertex to the line containing the opposite side (altitude can be inside, outside, or on the triangle) Orthocenter- the intersection (or point of concurrency) of the lines that contain the altitudes Tear out pages 390-392 Problems 4, 12, 13, 14, 18(find the centroid)
