Elementary Tool Kit Messages Only take medicine from individuals that a parent (or guardian) gives permission. Do not share medication or take someone else’s medication. Keep medications in their original containers to avoid confusion with candy or other medicines. Always store medicine in a safe place, such as a locked cabinet or a high shelf that children can’t reach. Newest Department

Is There Anything I Shouldn’t Do? 1. Lecture. 2. Avoid using complicated terms and vocabulary 3. Don’t be nervous to work with children. 4. Don’t use scare tactics.

Activity Stations 1. EACH ACTIVITY IS DESIGNED FOR 2 TO 8 YOUTH. 2. HAVE AN ADULT OR TEEN LEADER AT EACH STATION. 3. ACTIVITIES ARE DESIGNED FOR A SMALL GROUP OR AS PARTNERS. 4. SET UP THREE DISTINCT WORK AREAS WITH ALL OF THE SUPPLIES IN EACH AREA. 5. ASSIGN STUDENTS TO AN AREA. 6. 10 TO 15 MINUTES IN EACH AREA. 7. ROTATE STUDENTS.

Station #3: Medicine Hideouts—Safe or Unsafe OBJECTIVES: To determine safe places to store medications. Supplies: Worksheet for each student Talking points (in F. Guide) Pens and pencils

Station #4: Medication Safety Skits (optional) OBJECTIVE: Analyze scenarios to determine if children followed safe medication-taking practices. Supplies: Skits Pens and pencils
