FIRST PERSON POINT OF VIEW First person point of view (POV): Someone is telling you their story or ideas, or you are talking about yourself WORDS: I, me, my, we, us, mine Examples: I think I lost my wallet! I can’t find it anywhere! Oh, I could just kick myself! We could do ourselves a favor and make a reservation for our group.

SECOND PERSON POINT OF VIEW Second person point of view (POV): Someone is telling you what to do or how to do something WORDS: You, your, yours Examples: You can wait in here and make yourself at home. You should be proud of yourselves for finishing this enormous project!

THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEW Third person point of view (POV): Is like a camera recording of events or a narrator explaining from outside of the story WORDS: He, she, they, them, it Tiffany used her prize money from the science fair to buy herself a new microscope. The concert goers roared their approval when they realized they’d be getting an encore.

Biography A biography is about someone’s life. It is about a real person, but is not written by that person. It is written in third person point of view (POV)

Biography A biography describes key facts about a person. such as, where, when and how they live (or have lived if the person is no longer alive) Normally, a biography is written in chronological order (time order)

Biography Provides details that show events in a person’s life. A biography might talk about a person’s achievements, things that have happened to them, and their likes and dislikes.

Biography A biography will talk about how the person feels about different things. It might talk about the work a person does or the things they believe in.

Autobiography An autobiography is written in first person point of view (POV), because it contains facts about the author’s own experiences. The author writes about their own life. An autobiography recounts key incidents/events in the author’s life. It is normally written in chronological order (time order)
