Egyptian Trade Routes Used the Nile River, Red Sea, Mediterranean Sea, and Euphrates River to trade Egyptians used many trade routes on land, too. Maps did not really exist early on, but people knew about trade routes by word of mouth. It is important to know how to read a route map so you can understand how the civilization functioned.
