VOLUNTEERING IN LIETO "WITH A BIG HEART"

HOME VISITING FRIENDS A few times a month Young people go to older people home They can help and keep company

PHONE FRIENDS Volunteering people can call some other people who want a friend to talk to. A few times a month There are ten phones with which they can call.

OUTDOOR WALKING FRIENDS Volunteers visit four different places (old-age- house). And they go out with a big group of old people. About one time a month About one hour If it is bad weather they can also be inside

"SECOND" GRANDMA ACTION If a family doesn’t have real grandparents or they live far away. A family can get a "second" grandmom or grandfather who can be like a real grandparent. The family can visit the "second" grandparent once a month.

GROUP LEADERS A group leader can "teach" some group. For example in Lieto there are curling-, conversation-, christiaan- and invalidgroups. Leaders are volunteers.

ACTION THURSDAY Action Thursday is an action day where everyone can come. There are four to eighty persons, who are usually older people. They eat lunch and help make it. Volunteers have organized action Thursdays.

"CLUB GRANDMA" Club grandma is usually an older person. Club grandma helps kindergarten teachers in a childrens "club". So club grandma helps with kids and whatever she wants. Grandma is a volunteer who wants to be with kids.

IN LIETO In Lieto there is now about 100 volunteer. Leader says that they are very nice and own intiative. For examble when lot of refugees came to lieto volunteers become more. They sorted food and clothes to them.
