Digital Citizenship 9 important points to remember when connecting through digital means- Digital Etiquette: electronic standards of conduct or procedure Digital Communication: electronic exchange of information Digital Literacy: process of teaching and learning about technology and the use of technology Digital Access: full electronic participation in society Digital Commerce: electronic buying and selling of goods Digital Law: electronic responsibility for actions and deeds Digital Rights & Responsibilities: those freedoms extended to everyone in a digital world Digital Health & Wellness: physical and psychological well-being in a digital technology world Digital Security (self-protection): electronic precautions to guarantee safety

Electronic Mail Do not send emails containing explicit language Do not create or forward spam or chainmail Do not use email for creation or forwarding of jokes or humor that can be found offensive to others. Do not send electronic communications that contain slurs or anything that could be construed as harassment or abuse of others based on race, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability or religious or political beliefs.

Confidentiality of Information Never give out your name or personal information online. Never establish relationships with strangers online unless the communication is set up by a teacher. Don’t give out your username or password to anyone.

Internet Activity You can not download any inappropriate material. You can not download copyrighted material. Internet surfing for personal purposes is not allowed.

Use of Technology Games may not be installed or played on school computers. Computers are not to be used to store photos, video, music, audio files, etc. for personal purposes.

Barren County AUP Do not knowingly download any inappropriate material. Do not access newsrooms or chatrooms. Do not email third party groups (Hotmail, Gmail, etc.)
