Healthy Grocery Shopping: Navigation Tips for Your Shopping Cart Snacks, Crackers, and Chips

Aisle Locations The potato chip and snack food aisles are usually located in the middle of the store. You may also find cookies and candies located in these aisles.

Nutrition Facts Check Nutrition Facts label for both saturated and trans fat, cholesterol, and sodium content. Healthy Selection Choices: Baked potato chips instead of fried varieties Unsalted pretzels, nuts, crackers, and popcorn instead of salted and buttered varieties Almonds over cashews and peanuts

Nutrition Facts Most snack food items and potato chips come in boxed or bagged packaging. Remember: such packaging typically indicates a great deal of processing for the production of that food item. Snack food items and potato chips are usually high in calories and fat. Be cautious of your serving sizes! The 100 Calorie Pack options of your favorite snack foods are a great way to monitor your portions! Readily available in your favorite chips, crackers, and cookies.

Create Your Own Trail Mix Healthy Recipe Create Your Own Trail Mix Unsalted Almonds Sunflower Seeds Pumpkin Seeds Pretzels Dried Cranberries Raisins Bananas Apricots Sweets Dark Chocolate Bits Peanut Butter Bits Marshmallows Yogurt Balls Cereal Mix-Ins Cheerios Wheat Chex Kashi Crunch Life Instructions: Simply select your favorite items from each list, mix together, and store in a plastic bag for freshness. A serving size is typically 2/3 cup. Trail mix is a great on-the-go snack for anytime of day!

Freshness Tips Follow these instructions to close packaging without using a clip for maximum freshness: Step 1: Fold the sides of the bag, forming an upside down "V". Step 2: From the top, fold the bag three or four times with 2" folds. Step 3: Flip open each corner to keep the bag closed. Step 4: Now your bag is closed and will keep your chips fresh!
