Black History Black History Month honors the contributions of African Americans to U.S. history. Black History Month began as “Negro History Week,” which was created in 1926 by Carter G. Woodson, a noted African American historian, scholar, educator, and publisher. It became a month-long celebration in 1976. The month of February was chosen to coincide with the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln.

He DID NOT actually invent ice cream as we thought. He designed a device that helped with preserving perishable foods by way of refrigeration. Thomas also is known for inventing the commode.

Black History Month Henry Sampson Robert Flemming Jr. Co-invented the Gamma-Electric cell (which is a piece of metal inside of the cell phone that provides a lot of voltage) with George H. Miley. An African American man who invented the guitar on March 3rd, 1886.
