Janusz Kapusta Milena Zagrajek VII LO Juliusza Słowackiego

Curriculum vitae Polish illustrator, painter and set designer. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań. He is a laureate of 40 national and foreign artistic awards. Since 1981, Janusz Kapusta has been living in New York. In 1985 he discovered the K-DRON In 2000 he discovered new principles of the golden ratio

Artist’s works "My works have no titles, it's a metaphor without facilitation. Everything is visible."

K-Dron The name of the K-DRON comes from the word dron, which in Greek means the wall, and k is the eleventh letter of the Latin alphabet. Depending on the size of the angle alpha k-dron may be steeper or flatter.

When the angle equals 30 degrees these two elements can be placed together to form a hexagon. When angle alpha equals 45 degrees two k-drons form a cube. While three identical pyramids form a cube, twelve will form a k-dron.

Architecture – applications on walls and ceilings

Packaging – objects can be put inside the k-dron and it’s easy to place it together with another identical element.

Furniture – allows for secure placement along a variety of planes Furniture – allows for secure placement along a variety of planes. Two elements create a cube base for a table.

K-dron with angle alpha 45 degree is especially interesting K-dron with angle alpha 45 degree is especially interesting. Two elements placed together form a cube. When they are colorful, then we have an unusual toy. Children can build many unique figures and it’s more creative than making figures from cubes

Golden ratio In 2000, the artist discovered new, previously unknown principles of the golden ratio and presented them at mathematical conferences at American and Polish universities. His articles appeared in the mathematical periodicals of the United States and Japan. He combined golden and silver ratio in one design.

First K-dron memorial in Koło In 2007 the Polish Ministry of Culture and Art ordered a new copy of the Earth and Heaven of the K-Dron in bronze. In September 2009, the first K-dron memorial in the world was unveiled in the Polish town of Koło

Monument to Victims of Communism in Ottawa The Memorial to Victims of Communism project will be carried out by Studio Abstrakt, led by Wojciech Gorczyński. His team will also include Janusz Kapusta and Andrzej Pawlik. The monument will be placed on the square between the Supreme Court of Canada, and the Canadian Library and Archives, near the Parliament.
