Chapter 3 - Software Split into 3 groups of 5.

You can do a mind map, PP, any material you wish but you need to create a revision tool for your topic for everyone to use. You will present your topic to teach the class before the end of the lesson. Topics Group 1: Explain the need for the following functions of an operating system: user interface, memory management, peripheral management, multi-tasking and security. Group 2: Describe the purpose and use of common utility programs for computer security (antivirus, spyware protection and firewalls), disk organisation (formatting, file transfer, and defragmentation), and system maintenance (system information and diagnosis, system clean up tools, automatic updating) Group 3: Discuss the relative merits of custom written, off the shelf, open source and proprietary software.
