Art in Buddhism and Hinduism Compare and Contrast

Your job… Take a look at the two statues, one of Buddha and one of the Goddess Shiva. On your paper, create a sketch of each one. Pay attention to the way they are posed, facial expression, and their jewelry/accessories After drawing, click to the next slide and answer the questions on the back of your paper.

Viewing Questions What does each figure appear to be doing? What message do you think their body language is trying to express? Describe each figure's clothing and accessories. What does this add to your impression of this person? How is the presentation of Buddha similar to, or different from, the presentation of the Hindu god Shiva?
