Vocabulary Lesson 5

One blanket will be adequate on such a warm night.

Adjective-enough; sufficient

The Red Cross administers the blood donor program.

Verb- To manage or direct

The scout leader administered first aid to the child who had cut his hand.

Verb- To give out as treatment or assistance.

Talk of sharks in the water agitated swimmers at the beach.

Verb – to disturb or upset

Strong winds agitated the surface of the lake.

Verb- To move with an irregular, fast, or violent action

The miners agitated for better working conditions.

Verb – To stir up interest in and support for a cause

The airline capitulated to the baggage handlers’ demands and granted the pay raise.
