Fold Your Own Bank Activity Folding Your Own Bank   Use two pieces of same-sized cardstock (8½” x 11” or smaller). Cut 1/8” to 1/4” off of two adjoining sides of one piece of card stock. This will be the bottom of the box. (yellow in photo) Mark center of each piece of cardstock by lightly drawing a pencil line diagonally from corner to corner and repeat with remaining corners to form an X. Starting with the smaller piece of cardstock (bottom of the box), fold in sides to the center and unfold. Fold in other sides to the center and unfold. Pencil marks can be erased at this point if desired. To form corner bring corner up and fold 2 sides together on the previous folds. Then crease on inside and flatten against short side of box. Repeat with remaining corners. On the short side of box fold the extra length tab down and into the box then glue, tape or staple in place to hold the tab securely in place. Repeat on the other side. Follow steps 4 through 6 to form the top of the box. A coin slot may be cut in the top after the box is folded and unfolded in step 4, or it can be cut after the box is completed. Complete the bank by fitting the top of the box over the bottom. Youth may then decorate the bank box.
