Family Advisory Sub-Committee An Introduction Why are we here tonight? 11/18/2018

What is this? The Family Advisory Sub-Committee will be a group of CCS clients and family members working with staff to help make positive changes within the system. 11/18/2018

Advisors will be asked to Serve as advocates for other families Commit to improving care and service Collaborate in problem solving Contribute to success of the pilot. 11/18/2018

Why Us? CCS families and clients are the ones with the most knowledge about what is working well and not so well in the healthcare system. We have asked you to help because we feel you could provide input in a positive, respectful way and you can interact well with many different people. You work and play well with others. 11/18/2018

How can you help? Because of their experiences in the system clients and families can be essential sources of information and support in helping to improve policy, procedures and programs that affect their or their child’s care. 11/18/2018

Tell Me More All meetings will be held right in this building. 2000 Alameda de los Pulgas, San Mateo. There will be a small stipend to help offset the cost of childcare or transportation to the meetings. 11/18/2018

Still in? The sub-committee will meet quarterly for one hour. Meetings will be in the evenings to better accommodate your schedules. There may be homework assigned to get you ready for the meeting and, if you really want to be involved more fully, there will be times to review materials and work with Parent Liaisons on other projects throughout the year. 11/18/2018

BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE!! For the people who are interested in attending more meetings there is an option to be on yet another committee. This will be the Demonstration Project Advisory Committee. This committee will consist of families, clients and community partners, along with staff members and will help monitor how the pilot program is working. 11/18/2018

More…….. The people who choose to be on this committee will bring the suggestions and ideas that we come up with in this Family group to the next level. This is an exciting way to see your ideas put into action!!! 11/18/2018

Confidential During your work on the advisory board you may be exposed to highly sensitive clinical information. It is extremely important that advisory members understand their obligation to keep all information confidential. 11/18/2018

Confidential To ensure privacy for all of our families we require all Family Advisory Members to sign a confidentiality agreement. 11/18/2018

What did we learn? Not all families were interested. Not all families were appropriate. Families know a lot. 11/18/2018

Issues Encountered Bringing personal issues to the table. Time limits – so much to talk about so little time. Issues for consistent participation. 11/18/2018
